How do you advertise?

Being fairly new to the whole network marketing business, I'm finding it extremely difficult to find good marketing and advertising avenues for my business.

How do you choose?

Do you pay?

Or are there free sites out there that work just as well?

One of my biggest questions is the value of Safelists or opt in mailing lists. Do these actually work? All I seem to get is a mail box full of information that doesn't interest me...how do you find the right way to advertise?

Social Networking sites seem to be okay, but again you end up getting messages from people promoting their own businesses, and nobody really interested in what you are trying to promote.

I would be interested to know what and how people advertise, and what gets the best results. I am sure that there are a million different options and everyone has their own opinion.
